NEWS FOR EIGHTY NINE

rECENTLY  AT pOST 89........

It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Joseph Arcand, the 3rd Vice Commander of AMVETS Post 89. Joe was a quiet and soft-spoken individual, but when he spoke about fishing in Canada or his family, the excitement and love in his eyes were unmistakable.

As the leader of the Sub Crew, he oversaw the preparation of thousands of sandwiches for our Post, which were very popular among the membership. His devotion was evident and deeply appreciated by all.

It was a pleasure to know him, an honor to work alongside him, and his passing is a significant loss. I will share details about his services as soon as I receive them.

Renee Nagy

August 23, 1946 — November 11, 2024

Our organization has suffered another significant loss.

Renee was the Lady's Auxiliary President for Post 89 for many years and the beloved wife of Jan Nagy. The Sons will know Jan as he has been an integral part of the post and Sons organization for years. Their Son Joe Jr. is also a Sons member. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. We lost a wonderful, kind and brilliant person that we all loved and cherished.

Keith Jenkins

December 10, 1936 – November 7, 2024

We are all deeply saddened to hear of Keith's passing. Keith and his wife, Betty, were cherished members of the AMVETS family. They enjoyed attending our Friday dinners and Saturday breakfasts together. Keith was beloved by the Sons team and received special attention from Mario, the head chef. He remembered all of us by name and was always good for a big smile and gentle teasing. He particularly enjoyed our monthly sub sandwich sales, so much so that we delivered them to him after he stopped driving.

Keith had a quick wit and was steadfast in his beliefs. Conversations were many times about his wonderful children and their families. He shared fond memories of the golf league, growing up in Jackson, Ohio, and, of course, his loving wife, whom he missed so dearly. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
